Agricultural Education Technical Assessment System (AETAS)

AETAS was developed by a consortium consisting of Cornell University and NYAAE with assistance for the former Ag Tech program, Cornell Cooperative Extension, faculty members from Cornell, Morrisville, Cobleskill, Alfred, Delhi, and high schools throughout New York State and Virginia.  The bulk of the work was done by Dr. Jeno Rivera, now at Michigan State University and Dr. Donna Moore, now at Virginia Tech, with oversight by Dr. Nnabugwu at SED and assistance from more of you that I can even name.

For those of you who will be working on CTE Program Approval, if you are currently using a different technical assessment, there is no need to switch to this one.  If not, this system is designed to be flexible enough to meet almost any ag department's needs.  AETAS consists of three parts:  a written exam that can be customized for your curriculum, a general performance skills portfolio that can be customized for the individual student's program, and a technical skills section that is built around the occupational skills taught in your program.  Written exams are available in Agricultural Foundations (Required), Agricultural Business, Agricultural Mechanics and Technology, Animal Science, Plant Science, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Science, Small Animals, Veterinary Science, and Equine Systems.

The document describing the system is available below and on the SED web site.
