Participants in this event will be asked to complete a quiz along with a welding exercise and a metal identification exercise.

Contest Details
- 1. Each student will be required to perform three welds (including an overlap weld, a butt weld and a T-fillett weld,) with BOTH a Mig Innershield .035 Innershield Welder AND an Electric Stick Welder using 6011, 1/8. (Please see attached picture for clarification.)
a. All Welding machines will be provided by Haun Welding. The Electric Stick machine welder will be: The Ranger 10,000 gas engine drive. The MIG welder will be: The 120 volt, Innershield Lincoln welder.
b. All MIG welds will be done using 1/8" steel, and all stick welds will be done using ¼" or 3/16" steel. - 2. Each student will perform an ID quiz of an oxy-acetylene set up, including parts and functions.
- 3. Each student will perform a Metal Identification Quiz. (A file, grinder and magnet will be provided for student use during Metal ID quiz.)
- 4. Each student will complete a multiple-choice quiz.
- 5. Students will also be judged and scored on their professional appearance, aptitude, preparedness and safety.

Contest Requirements
IN ORDER FOR STUDENTS TO BE SCORED:
- 1. All students MUST be enrolled in an active FFA Program!
- 2. Teams will consist of two students. (Each school can bring as many teams as they choose to enter!)
- 3. Each team member will complete each phase of the competition and be scored individually. We will then average together each team's scores to obtain an overall "team score."
- 4. Individual student participation is also very welcomed!!!
**NON- FFA-MEMBERS ARE WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE, BUT ARE NOT ABLE TO BE SCORED!!**
Contest Equipment Requirement's
(All students must bring the following items with them the day of the contest:)
- 1. Chipping Hammer
- 2. Wire Brush
- 3. Pliers
- 4. Safety Glasses
- 5. Welding Helmet
- 6. Leather Gloves
- 7. Protective Clothing (including: long pants, safety jacket/leathers and protective shoes.)
Contest Awards Categories
- 1. Individual Awards: Morrisville State College Scholarships: 1st place=$1, 000 Scholarship, 2nd place=$750 Scholarship and 3rd place=$500 Scholarship.
- 2. High Team Recognition Awards.
- 3. ALL students participating will receive a ribbon and a "Recognition of Participating" Completion Certificate.
Pre-Entry Registration Request
***This year we are encouraging pre-entry registration of all students when at all possible!***
- 1. We want to make sure that we have enough steel and supplies for all students planning to participate in the contest.
- 2. We would also like to have printed recognition folders for individual students, teams and participating schools that will be required to be printed before hand.
- 3. Please email us your entry forms (see attached form) by: JULY 20, 2012!!!
- 4. Students who do not pre-register are still welcome to participate and sign-up the day of the contest.
