Prepare to Communicate the Importance of Agriculture to the Public

The purpose of this event is to provide individuals with basic communication skills necessary to take advantage of career opportunities in agricultural communications. Public communications about agricultural products, practices and policies are essential to the future of agriculture. Students who are equipped with strong communication skills and who can use a variety of media to help the public understand issues related to the agricultural industry have a bright future in the job market.

  • Age Range: Grades 9-12
  • Competition Venue: New York State Convention in early May

  • NY Contest Description: Unlike the National level contest, only the top four individual scores count towards the overall team score. Each team needs only to submit three copies of the communications project proposal at registration. Also, at the state level of competition, only one practicum event is conducted and all individuals compete in this one event.
