State President

J.W. (John William) Allen

john-william-allenWhat got you started in FFA?

FFA is very popular in my high school. It seems that just about everyone is involved in FFA in my high school and I believe a large part of that is because of our super cool advisor Mr. Jones. I started in the FFA because I knew it was fun. I knew that I would be able to work outside, and have the opportunity to travel and let's not forget McDonalds for all of our meals!! Since then I have learned that FFA is so much more. From winning proficiencies, to traveling promoting the organization, to now becoming the State President, FFA has truly broadened my horizons and has molded me into the man I am today.

Favorite FFA Experience:

ALL OF THEM! But since I am forced to choose only one, the 2011 National Officer tour definitely ranks in my top three! We had so much fun visiting and meeting new members and chapters across the state! It was interesting to see the different aspects of all of the FFA programs in our state and I learned more than I ever imagined from the members. It also provided my state officer team with new ways to bond and learn, especially from National FFA President Riley Pagett.

Favorite Thing about FFA:

My favorite thing about the FFA is that it provides students with numerous opportunities to succeed. Members become so far advanced with knowledge and life skills compared to those who don't belong to the FFA. The FFA allows students to be their true self.

Pump Up Song (must be appropriate for FFA members to play):

Superman! Five for fighting

What are you looking forward to the most as a State Officer?

I am looking forward to making those connections which are started through the FFA. Meeting members and hearing their success stories. Hearing about their activities and experience programs is a tremendous way to realize the diversification our society has to offer. And of course the New York State Convention.
