Elizabeth Bracken

Elizabeth_BrackenWhat got you started in FFA? Honestly?

I don't really know, I figured that I knew my dad worked on a farm, and I knew something about cows. I was also that seventh grader that was out to join every club, play a sport during every season, and load myself down with activities. But in the end FFA is what fit me. It is one of the few that I stuck with all the way through high school, because it is what I enjoyed the most, and still do.

Favorite FFA Experience:

During spring break 2011, some members of my chapter had the awesome opportunity to travel to Costa Rica and tour the country. We got to watch the sun rise on the beach, zip line down through the rainforest, see an active volcano, and tour coffee plants. But by far the best part of the trip was when we spent two days in a town called San Bernardo helping the town to build a community center. Everyone in the town is family, and they didn't have the money to build a community center to host events and raise money for the town. After two long days of pouring concrete sidewalks and priming the walls, we were able to play a game of soccer with the kids from the town, and honestly, that was the best part of the entire trip. Just being able to play soccer with kids who don't even speak the same language as me, but being able to come together and enjoy a game together.

Favorite Thing about FFA:

I think my favorite thing about FFA is the people. You never know who you're going to meet at an FFA event, and what they have to offer you. No matter how many FFA events you go to, there is always someone new to meet and get to know. The people are all friendly and interesting and full of conversation.

Pump Up Song (must be appropriate for FFA members to play):

Gives You Hell, The All American Rejects.

What are you looking forward to the most as a State Officer?

Well, I said my favorite thing about FFA is the people. So naturally one of the things I am most excited to get to know as many of you as possible as I travel around the state!
